I saw The Fellowship of the Ring yesterday, after reading the book for the first time.

I hadn’t seen the movie for years. And you know, I loved it, but they took out a lot. Tom Bombadil wasn’t necessary for the movie and adding Arwen was nice for the film (Glorfindel was cool, but Arwen is will be a Queen), I agree with Jackson there [EDIT] I understand why he made this changes, but apart from these and some other details, I don’t like the changes in characters’ personalities.

I didn’t like how Gandalf didn’t want to go to Moria (though I believe Jackson wanted us to think he knew about his fate with the Balrog), how Frodo guesses mellon, or the fight with Saruman. It makes Gandalf look a lot weaker than he is (#ALTHOUGH HE SPEAKS WITH A MOTHERFUCKING MOTH TO GET OUT OF ORTHANC LIKE A BOSS.).

The huge mistake, I believe, was shortening like that The Council of Elrond. It explains the background story so much, and, yes, Galadriel said it in the beginning, but the Council introduces many important characters, which are going to represent their races throughout the story.

Legolas and Gimli are cool as shit, but they’re faces in the background in the movie. Boromir doesn’t show the inner struggle that he has.

The movie is focused on the action and the journey, and on one side it was awesome, the landscapes were beautiful, but I sense it’s lacking things, a lot of things.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Jackson made an amazing work, and the acting is more than good; it’s not an easy book to adapt nor to act. But having read the book, I can’t help but noticing the little things.
